Creepy! Worth the Price!
Through the Eyes of Glass is an interesting book of short stories. Mr. Cape has included several short stories that were obviously inspired by the "Twilight Zone" and "Tales From The Crypt" genres. There are a few stand outs that are worth the price of the book. The first one is Road Trip. This story is based on actual events of a friend of his. It follows the adventures of two girls traveling across country to attend school in California. Along the way they encounter, among other things, a crazed truck driver and the spirit of an old Indian Chief protecting the sacred ground of his tribes massacre. The second story of note is a very short, but creepy tale of revenge entitiled The Reaper. Not to give too much away, but anyone who has ever been abused by their spouse will enjoy the way The Reaper takes revenge on the abuser of his sister. Finally, the best story of the book, Leroy. This story is, according to the author, based on events that happened to his own family. It is the story of a demonic obsession. Leroy tells the tale of young Carrie Bateman who is plagued by a demon who tries to get her to kill her family. This story includes actual Pagan rituals and chants to defeat the demon. Guaranteed goosebumps from this one! I really enjoyed all of the stories in this book. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys getting the creeps. Hopefully this is the first of many to come. I wait in anticipation for the next book.
